A moderate to severe heat wave is forecast to begin across the country immediately after Eid, according to the Bangladesh Weather Observation Team (BWOT). In a media update on Thursday (April 27), the BWOT stated that the country is currently experiencing unusual weather patterns, with Chaitra-like conditions during the day and Paush-like temperatures at night. Many areas are facing intense daytime heat while nights remain unusually cold, posing health risks. The temperature is expected to rise gradually from the night of March 26, with the cold nights likely to cease across the country by April 2. Additionally, BWOT also warned that a moderate heat wave could start by April 4, which may intensify into a severe heat wave a few days later.

ঈদের পরপরই সারা দেশে মাঝারি থেকে তীব্র তাপপ্রবাহ শুরু হতে পারে বলে জানিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ ওয়েদার অবজারভেশন টিম (বিডব্লিউওটি)। বৃহস্পতিবার (২৭ এপ্রিল) সংবাদমাধ্যমকে এ তথ্য জানায় সংস্থাটি। বাংলাদেশ ওয়েদার অবজারভেশন টিম জানায়, দেশে বর্তমানে দিনে চৈত্র মাস আর রাতে পৌষ মাসের আবহাওয়া বিরাজ করছে। ইদানিং দেশের অনেক এলাকায় দিনে গরম পড়লেও রাতে বেশ শীত পড়ছে। এই পরিস্থিতি স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য ভয়াবহ। এ ধরনের আবহাওয়া কতদিন থাকতে পারে- এমন প্রশ্নে সংস্থাটি জানায়, গতকাল ২৬ মার্চ রাত থেকেই ধীরে ধীরে তাপমাত্রা বৃদ্ধি পেতে থাকবে। অন্যদিকে আগামী ২ এপ্রিল থেকে সারা দেশে রাতে শীত পড়া পুরোপুরি বন্ধ হয়ে যেতে পারে। এ ছাড়া আগামী ৪ এপ্রিল থেকে মাঝারি ধরনের তাপপ্রবাহ শুরু হতে পারে। মাঝারি ধরনের এই তাপপ্রবাহ শুরুর কয়েকদিন পরই তীব্র তাপপ্রবাহে পরিণত হতে পারে বলে জানিয়েছে বিডব্লিউওটি।
