Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep concern over the worsening health condition of BNP Chairperson and former Bangladesh Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

In a post on X on Monday night (December 1), Modi conveyed his prayers for her swift recovery and reiterated India’s readiness to extend any necessary support. “Deeply concerned to learn about the health of Begum Khaleda Zia. She has made significant contributions to the lives of the people of Bangladesh over many years,” he wrote.

He added, “Our sincere prayers and best wishes for her speedy recovery. India stands ready to provide any assistance required.”

Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka for a week after her condition worsened due to multiple complications, including severe liver problems, declining kidney function, respiratory distress, and fluid retention. As her health continued to deteriorate over the past few days, she was shifted to a High Dependency Unit (HDU), which offers ICU-level monitoring.

Doctors say her treatment has become increasingly complex, as they must manage several critical issues simultaneously, requiring extreme caution at every stage.
