A fire that broke out at the Mohakhali Sattola Slum in the capital early Wednesday was brought under control after about two hours of intense effort. Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) headquarters media cell, confirmed the matter. He said, "The fire started in the slum around 3:40 am. Initially, five firefighting units were dispatched to the scene, and three more joined later to help control the blaze. The firefighters brought the fire under control around 5:20 am." The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still unknown.

মঙ্গলবার দিবাগত রাতে রাজধানীর মহাখালী সাততলা বস্তিতে লাগা আগুন দেড় ঘণ্টার চেষ্টায় নিয়ন্ত্রণে এসেছে। আগুন নেভাতে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের আটটি ইউনিট কাজ করেছে। ফায়ার সার্ভিসের সদর দপ্তরের মিডিয়া সেলের গুদাম পরিদর্শক আনোয়ারুল ইসলাম বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি বলেন, “রাত ৩টা ৪০ মিনিটে সাততলা বস্তিতে আগুন লাগে। প্রথমে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের পাঁচটি ইউনিট ঘটনাস্থলে পাঠানো হয়। পরে আরো তিন ইউনিট যোগ দেয়। সকাল ৫টা ২০ মিনিটে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনতে সক্ষম হয় ফায়ার সার্ভিস।” অগ্নিকাণ্ডের কারণ এবং ক্ষতির পরিমাণ সম্পর্কে এখনও কিছু জানা যায়নি।
