Mohammadpur OC moved to DB

Ali Iftekhar Hasan, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station, has been transferred to the Detective Branch, according to an official order issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Sunday.

Kazi Md Rafiqul Ahmed, the OC of Shah Ali Police Station, has been appointed as the new OC of Mohammadpur Police Station. Golam Azam, an inspector from DMP’s transport division, will take over as OC of Shah Ali Police Station.

The transfer comes after protests by residents of Mohammadpur and nearby areas in February, who demanded Iftekhar’s removal amid a surge in muggings, teenage gang violence, and other criminal activities.

Last month, a man accused several police officers, including the Mohammadpur OC, of misconduct following a mugging incident. While four policemen were suspended in connection with the allegations, Iftekhar Hasan remained in his post until his transfer today.
