Mohan Raihan alleges cancellation of Bangla Academy Literary Award

Poet Mohan Raihan, who received the 2025 Bangla Academy Literary Award (Poetry Category), has alleged that his award was postponed during the ceremony.

In a post on social media, he claimed that he was selected in the poetry category for this year's Bangla Academy Literary Award.

He claimed that the award committee had nominated him spontaneously. He did not lobby for the award in any way.

He also said that, a rehearsal for receiving the award was held on Wednesday and his name was also announced at the beginning of the practice conducted by the SSF members. However, he was not called again during the award ceremony.

The poet alleged that his award was canceled due to pressure from a group because of his poem titled 'Taherer Swapna' written about Colonel Taher about 41 years ago.

No official statement was immediately received from the Bangla Academy or the government on this matter.
