A mortar shell fired from Myanmar has landed in Bangladesh near the border in Bandarban, causing panic among residents. There has been continuous mortar shelling and gunfire from Myanmar across the Ghumdhum border in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban.

The situation at the border is tense, leading to approximately 3,000 people from two villages on the other side of the Tumbru border seeking shelter elsewhere.

Shafiqul Islam, UP Member of Ward No. 2 of Ghumdhum Union of Naikhongchhari, said, "Mortar shell-firing on the border has not stopped yet. As a result, nearly 3000 people from two villages have gone to shelter elsewhere. Apart from this, parts of mortar shell and bullets fired by Myanmar have reached the houses of two local people. However, there were no casualties."
