Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain has dismissed a viral list of “India deal cancellations,” saying most of the mentioned agreements do not exist.

His remarks came after Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan claimed on Facebook that ten India-related deals and projects had been canceled.

Speaking to reporters at the ministry on Tuesday (October 21), he clarified that the interim government has so far canceled only one deal — the tugboat supply agreement with Indian defense firm GRSE.

He said many of the listed projects, including Tripura–Chattogram rail link, Abhaypur–Akhaura expansion, and Ashuganj–Agartala corridor, either do not exist or are under review under different names. Only one package of the Ashuganj–Sarail–Dharokhar–Akhaura four-lane highway has been canceled.

Touhid Hossain added that projects on Feni or Kushiyara river water management, port connectivity, and petroleum pipeline expansion are limited to MoUs, not binding agreements, and none have been scrapped.

He further stated that no financial proposal exists regarding the Farakka Barrage, and the Indian Economic Zone project remains under process.

The Adani power deal is under review, while discussions are ongoing to renew the Ganges water-sharing treaty expiring next year.

The Teesta agreement, he noted, has seen “no significant progress.”

The adviser reiterated that only one deal with India has been canceled and any future decisions will be officially announced.
