Mother, 2 children killed in Muradnagar mob attack

Three members of a family were killed in a mob attack on Thursday morning following accusations of drug trafficking. The incident took place around 9:30 AM in Koraibari village of Akbapur Union under the jurisdiction of Bangrabazar Thana.

The victims have been identified as Roksana Akter Ruby, her son Rasel Mia, and her daughtersJonaki.

Mahfuzur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Bangurabazar police station, confirmed the incident and said police were dispatched to the scene shortly after receiving reports. According to preliminary information, locals accused the family of involvement in drug trafficking and beat them to death. The police are investigating the matter further to determine the exact circumstances.

Locals allege that Roksana Akter and her family had been involved in drug trafficking in the area for a long time. They reportedly faced multiple cases at different police stations in Muradnagar, Bangura, and nearby areas. The public’s anger over these allegations is believed to have triggered the fatal attack.

Authorities have appealed for calm and assured that a thorough investigation is underway.
