Mother and daughter found dead in Cumilla

Police have recovered the bodies of a mother and her daughter from a rented flat in the Kaliajuri area of Cumilla city. The bodies were discovered on Monday morning (September 8).

According to police, the deceased, housewife Tahmina Begum, had been sleeping in the flat with her daughter Sumaiya Afrin. At one point during the night, Tahmina Begum’s son returned home and found them asleep. When he later received no response from them, he became suspicious and informed the authorities.

Police reached the scene and recovered the bodies of Tahmina Begum and Sumaiya Afrin, sending them to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Sumaiya Afrin was a student in the Department of Public Administration at Cumilla University.

Mohinul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Model Police Station, said there were no visible signs of injury on their bodies. The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem examination.
