A mother and her teenage daughter have been stabbed to death in their Mohammadpur home on Shahjahan Road in Dhaka on Monday morning (December 8). The victims have been identified as Laila Afroze, 48, and her daughter Nafisa Binte Aziz, 15. According to police, Laila’s husband, Azizur Rahman, a school teacher in Uttara, left the house in the morning and discovered their bodies after returning around 10:30am and promptly informed the police. Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner Ibn-e-Mizan said the bodies were found together, and investigations at the scene are ongoing.

রাজধানীর মোহাম্মদপুরের শাহজাহান রোডের একটি বাসায় মা ও মেয়ে কুপিয়ে হত্যা করা হয়েছে। নিহতরা হলেন লাইলা আফরোজ (৪৮) এবং তার মেয়ে নাফিসা বিনতে আজিজ (১৫)। সোমবার (৮ ডিসেম্বর) সকালে রেসিডেনসিয়াল কলেজের উল্টো পাশে থাকা ওই বাসায় ঘটনা ঘটে। মোহাম্মদপুর থানা পুলিশ জানায়, লায়লার স্বামী আজিজুর রহমান উত্তরার একটি স্কুলের শিক্ষক। সকালে তিনি বাসা থেকে বের হন। পরে সাড়ে ১০টার দিকে বাসায় ফিরে স্ত্রী ও মেয়ের লাশ দেখতে পান এবং পুলিশকে খবর দেন। পুলিশের তেজগাঁও বিভাগের উপ-কমিশনার ইবনে মিজান বলেন, ‘আমরা দুটি লাশ একসাথে পেয়েছি। ঘটনাস্থলে কাজ চলছে। ঘটনার বিষয়ে খোঁজখবর নেওয়া হচ্ছে।’
