Mother returns as corpse while picking up daughter from school

Umme Habiba Rajoni (37), a mother, tragically died while going to pick up her daughter from school. She was the daughter of Abdul Hamid, a BNP leader from Motmura Union in Gangni Upazila, Meherpur, and the wife of businessman Joharul Islam from Sajipur village in Daulatpur Upazila, Kushtia.

Rajoni lived in Uttara, Dhaka, with her husband, who works there. Their only daughter, Jhumjhum Khatun (12), is a fifth-grade student at Milestone School and College.

On Monday, Rajoni lost her life in a plane crash in Uttara. Her body arrived at her village home early Tuesday morning, around 4 AM, creating a heart-wrenching scene in Baut village of Motmura Union. Her mother, siblings, and neighbors broke down in tears. Later, her body was taken to her in-laws’ home in Sajipur, Kushtia.

According to family sources, Rajoni had gone to pick up her daughter from school as usual. Suddenly, a training aircraft crashed in front of them, severely injuring Rajoni on the spot. She was taken to the CMH Burn Unit in Dhaka, where she died while undergoing treatment.

Family members said she will be buried in Char Sajipur village, Daulatpur, Kushtia. Her daughter Jhumjhum was seriously injured but survived. After initial treatment, she is now with her family.
