Mother stabbed to death by son on Mother's Day in Feni

A woman was killed and two others critically injured after a drug-addicted son launched a knife attack on his family in Feni, in a shocking incident reported on Mother’s Day.

The attack took place around 8:30pm in Dilpur village under Sindurpur Union of Daganbhuiyan upazila on Sunday night (May 10).

According to police and local sources, Rafi, 22, allegedly attacked his mother, Lucky Akter, 55, inside their home using a knife reportedly ordered online. When his sister Mithila Bhuiyan, 18, rushed in to rescue their mother, she was also stabbed. Their father, Mostafa Bhuiyan, 65, a recently returned expatriate, was injured after trying to intervene.

All three victims were critically wounded and rushed to hospital by locals. Lucky Akter was declared dead on the way to hospital. The injured father and daughter are currently undergoing treatment at Feni General Hospital and were later referred to Chattogram for advanced care.

Following the incident, police arrested the suspect, Mohammad Rafi, with the assistance of locals. Two knives used in the attack were recovered from the scene.

Confirming the matter, Daganbhuiyan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Foyjul Azim said the body has been sent to the hospital morgue for post-mortem examination and legal procedures are underway.

Authorities said initial findings suggest the attack stemmed from a dispute over money for drugs, triggering the deadly assault that has left the local community in shock.
