Mother, two children found dead at Barguna district council dak bungalow

Police have recovered the bodies of a woman and her two young daughters from rooms at the Barguna district council dak bungalow. The bodies were found on Wednesday afternoon, June 3, from the third floor of the building.

The deceased have been identified as Smriti Rani, wife of Dulal Roy of the Kalibari area in the town, and her two daughters, aged around six and two. Smriti worked as a part-time cleaner at the dak bungalow.

According to police and local sources, workers at the bungalow spotted the body of the six-year-old child in room number 3 and informed police. Police and DB personnel later broke open the door of room number 4 and recovered the bodies of Smriti Rani and her younger daughter.

District Council Administrator Md Nazrul Islam Mollah and Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Mohammad Ibrahim visited the scene. Smriti had arrived for work with her two children around 11:00 am, Mollah said. Preliminary indications suggest it is a tragic family incident, though the exact cause will be confirmed after investigation.

Barguna Sadar Police Station OC Md Abdul Alim said multiple police teams are working to uncover the mystery. The bodies are being sent for autopsy. The cause of death will be confirmed after investigation.
