Mother, two daughters killed in road crash in Netrokona
Three members of a family, including a mother and her two daughters, were killed in a road accident involving a bus and an auto-rickshaw in Netrokona.
The accident took place around 11:30am at the Chollisha bypass area under Netrokona Sadar upazila on Sunday morning (May 31).
Three others were seriously injured, with one reported to be in critical condition.
The deceased were identified as Noorjahan Begum, 40, her elder daughter Smriti Akter, 16, and younger daughter Eti Akter, 10. They were residents of Amli Keshobpur village under Rouha union in the same upazila.
According to locals, a Mymensingh-bound bus collided head-on with a battery-powered auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, leaving the smaller vehicle badly mangled. Of the six passengers in the auto-rickshaw, three died on the spot while three others sustained injuries.
The injured were admitted to Netrokona Sadar Hospital and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Police said they responded immediately after being informed and launched rescue operations at the scene.
Authorities added that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash, and legal action will be taken accordingly.
