The bodies of a mother and daughter were found in a bathroom at Block F-75 in Kutupalong Camp 3, a Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya, on Tuesday morning (January 14).

Md. Siraj Amin, the Additional Deputy Inspector General (ADIG) of the Armed Police Battalion (APBN), confirmed the matter.

The deceased were identified as Momtaz Begum (55), the wife of Rashid Ahmed from the area, and her daughter Subaida Bibi (18).

According to local sources, in the early morning after the Fajr prayer, Nurul Haque and Robiul Alam, the son and brother of Momtaz Begum, went to check on their mother and sister but could not find them. They then discovered the bodies near a shed in a bathroom and alerted the authorities, who recovered the bodies.

Md Siraj Amin said, "Upon receiving the news, an APBN team arrived at the site, but the local residents had already recovered the bodies. The Ukhiya police were notified afterward."

Md Arif Hossain, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhiya Police Station, said, "After being informed about the incident, the police recovered the bodies. There were no signs of injury on Momtaz Begum's body. However, Subaida Bibi had a reddish mark on her forehead, a slight mark on her neck, and some blood behind her ear. The bodies have been sent for autopsy at Cox's Bazar District Hospital, and the police are investigating whether the deaths were natural or the result of a crime."
