Mother-son achieve GPA-5 together

Mother and son both secured GPA-5 after participating in the SSC examinations in the same year. This success by Sadia Begum and her son Tanvir Ahmed, residents of the Rajpara thana area in Rajshahi city, has created a joyful atmosphere among family members and local residents.

It is known that Sadia Begum was married 19 years ago. After marriage, managing household responsibilities kept her away from studies for nearly 17 years. However, she did not lose her passion for learning. Later, while caring for her two children, she resumed her studies.

About two years ago, she decided to take the SSC exam alongside her son. With family consent, she began her preparations. Participating in this year's SSC (Vocational) examination from Rajpara Adarsha Mohila Technical and BM College, Sadia achieved a GPA-5.

Her son Tanvir Ahmed took the SSC exam in the science stream from Rajshahi Education Board Government Model School and College, securing a golden GPA-5.

Sadia shared that she always had an interest in studying, but could not continue after marriage due to various reasons. Later, about two years ago, she decided to take the exam together with her son and started preparing with family support.

Tanvir considers taking the same exam alongside his mother a matter of good fortune. He remarked, "Participating in the SSC exams with my mother and both of us getting GPA-5—how many people get the privilege of taking exams with their mother!"

Tanvir mentioned that just as his mother regularly kept track of his studies, she studied diligently herself. Often, his mother would sit beside him at night to study. Dedicating this success to his parents, Tanvir expressed his dream of becoming an engineer in the future.

Their private tutor, Ariful Islam, is also delighted with the success of the mother and son. For nearly four years, he has helped Tanvir with English while also assisting Sadia with her studies.

According to family sources, Sadia's husband Tofazzal Hossain is a government official. Balancing household and child-rearing responsibilities after a long hiatus, Sadia returned to academics and earned a GPA-5 in the same exam as her son, making her achievement a unique example of perseverance and willpower.
