Motorcycle breaches PM's security cordon, youth held
A youth has been taken into custody for allegedly breaching the security cordon of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's motorcade on a motorcycle near Farmgate in Dhaka. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, September 5, in the Khamarbari area as the Prime Minister was en route to a BNP rally.
The youth, identified as Mubin Majhi, hails from the Rakudia area in Dehergati union of Babuganj upazila, Barishal. Eyewitnesses said he crossed the security barrier and approached the Prime Minister's vehicle, even going to the side of the car and offering a salute before being taken into custody by police on the spot.
Mubin is the son of retired head teacher Yunus Majhi. His family has strong ties to education and local social work, with several relatives being teachers or involved in local BNP politics. One uncle is a retired teacher, another is a former AGS of a government college, and another is a BNP leader.
Local sources said Mubin had been living abroad for a long time and later returned to Dhaka, where he started a motorcycle ride-sharing business.
Tejgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Moniruzzaman said police have checked Mubin's criminal record and have not found any suspicious information so far.
