Motorcycle catches fire after refueling in Jashore
A motorcycle caught fire while taking oil from a filling station in the Dharmatala area of Jashore town. The incident took place at M/s Sonali Filling Station on Thursday (April 9) afternoon.
Eyewitnesses said that Abdul Mannan, a resident of Jahangirpur village in Singhajhuli Union of Chougachha Upazila, went to the pump to get oil at around 3:30pm. While standing in line to get oil worth Tk 450, oil overflowed from the tank and fell on the engine. Later, the engine caught fire when he started the motorcycle with Tk 410 oil.
The fire spread in an instant, creating panic at the pump. At that time, customers and locals present quickly pulled the motorcycle away from the main part of the pump, thus a major accident was averted.
Upon receiving the information, members of the fire service reached the spot around 4:30pm and brought the fire under control. However, the motorcycle was severely damaged before that.
According to locals, if immediate action was not taken, a major fire could have broken out at the filling station.
