Motorcycle crash kills Australian tourist in Cox's Bazar
An Australian citizen was killed in a motorcycle accident on the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred around 6pm at Dailpara in the Inani Sonarpara area of Ukhiya upazila.
Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police (Additional Superintendent) Mohammad Rahmat Ullah confirmed the matter on Friday, saying that Daniel Paul, 49, had rented a motorcycle to explore the Marine Drive. He lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree, being thrown off the bike. He died on the spot.
Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Arif Hossain said police recovered the body after visiting the scene and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue. Paul had arrived in Cox’s Bazar four days earlier and was staying at the Modern Resort in Kolatoli. It is believed he was returning from Inani Beach at the time of the accident.
The Australian Embassy in Dhaka has been informed of his death, according to police sources.
