Moulvibazar SP Riyazul withdrawn seven days after taking charge
Police Headquarters has withdrawn Moulvibazar Superintendent of Police Md Riyazul Islam just seven days after he assumed office.
An order signed by Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir on Friday, May 15, directed him to hand over charge to the senior-most officer of the district police and report to Police Headquarters by May 16. No reason was cited in the order.
Recently, allegations surfaced on social media that Riyazul had been transferred as SP of Moulvibazar through a "Tk 2.5 crore contract", sparking widespread discussion and criticism.
Earlier, the SPs of Feni and Panchagarh were also withdrawn. They were Feni SP Mohammad Mahbub Alam Khan and Panchagarh SP Md Mizanur Rahman, who were attached to Police Headquarters through separate orders signed by the IGP on May 9.
On May 5, a reshuffle was made in the SP posts of 12 districts across the country. Within a week, three of them have been withdrawn.
