Move beyond mob culture, engage in dialogue: New IGP

Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hossain Fakir has called on the younger generation and political parties to move beyond the country’s “mob culture” and engage in dialogue to resolve conflicts.

He made the remarks while briefing officials during a late-night law and order inspection in the capital on Thursday (February 26).

The IGP said special measures will be implemented to prevent snatching incidents ahead of Eid, and routine night patrols will continue.

“No one will be allowed to exploit any situation for personal or political gain,” he added.

He also noted that discussions are ongoing within the force regarding changes to police uniforms, emphasising that a shift in mindset is as important as changes in attire.

During the briefing, the IGP highlighted recent operations and the current law and order situation. He later visited Mohammadpur Police Station as part of his inspection tour.
