MP Anwarul Azim murder mastermind arrested: Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has said that the Police did not find anybody in the flat, at New Town of Bidhannagar in Kolkata, where MP Anwarul Azim Anar of Jhenaidah-4 constituency is believed to have been killed.

“DB police have arrested some people including the mastermind of this murder. Kolkata Police also arrested two suspects. This killing is sad, shocking, unwanted. An investigation is underway as to how the murder took place,” he said while talking to reporters after attending a seminar organized at Dhaka University's Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Wednesday (May 22) afternoon.

The home ministry will brief in details about the issue. We are maintaining contact through the Bangladesh Mission in Kolkata. The Mission is keeping regular contact with Kolkta police. As the issue is under investigation, much cannot be said. The incident is indeed a very sad one, the minister said.

“As the home minister has said that it is a planned murder, so, the issue is not a matter between the two countries,” he observed.
