MRT police to patrol metro trains

MRT police members are on duty from Tuesday to control the chaos and provide additional security among passengers inside metro trains. There are 2 members in each train.

The office of the Managing Director of DMTCL, the metro rail operator, confirmed the matter to the media on Tuesday (March 4) afternoon.

According to a responsible source in the office, MRT police members have been allowed to enter the coaches of the metro train. They will patrol inside the coaches.

According to another source, a total of 2 MRT police members will be on duty in a train of 6 coaches. Accordingly, 20 members will be on duty in the 10 running trains. They will work in these 2 shifts, from morning to noon and noon to night. In addition, the MRT police members who were on duty at the stations will also be there.

The MRT Police will try to resolve any problems according to the needs of citizens, including immediate search for children, the elderly, and lost belongings of passengers, prevention of theft and robbery, control of quarrels among passengers, and other issues.

The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Police started working from November 2023 for the overall security of the metro rail and stations.
