Muazzin's hanging body found in mosque, uncle dies of heart attack

The police have recovered the hanging body of a muazzin from inside a mosque in Dimla, Nilphamari. His uncle fell ill on the spot after seeing his nephew's body. He later died of a heart attack on the way to the hospital.

The incident took place on Thursday (July 16) morning at the Munakasha Baitun Noor Mosque in the Dakshin Jhunagach Chapani area of ​​the upazila's Jhunagach Chapani union.

The deceased are Abdul Malek, 32, son of the deceased Nurul Islam of the area, and his uncle, Ahedul Islam, 65, son of the deceased Nasir Uddin.

According to local sources, Abdul Malek had been serving as a muazzin at the mosque for a long time. He got married last Tuesday. Devotees who came to the mosque for Fajr prayers on Thursday morning saw his hanging body. The matter was later informed to the family members.

Upon receiving the news, Abdul Malek's maternal uncle Ahedul Islam arrived at the scene and suffered a heart attack after seeing his nephew's hanging body. Locals tried to take him to the hospital quickly, but he died on the way.

Ekramul Haque Chowdhury, chairman of Jhunagach Chapani Union Parishad, said that Ahedul Islam suffered a heart attack after seeing his nephew's body and died before being taken to the hospital.

Dimla Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shawkat Ali Sarkar said that the muezzin's body has been recovered and sent to the morgue for an autopsy. The body will be handed over to the family after completing the legal process. An investigation is underway to find out the real cause of the incident.
