A Cumilla court has granted a five-day remand for Shah Poran, the alleged mastermind behind the distribution of a nude video of a woman in Muradnagar upazila. The order was issued on Wednesday morning by Judge Mominul Haque of Cumilla Amoli Court-11 following a hearing on the remand plea.

According to police, Shah Poran filmed and circulated the video on social media after the woman was allegedly raped. He is the younger brother of Fozor Ali, the prime accused in the rape case.

The incident occurred on the night of June 26 in Baheerchar village, where the victim had gone to visit her father’s home. She was allegedly assaulted by Fozor Ali, who was later caught and beaten by locals. During the chaos, a group of individuals filmed the victim in a state of undress and circulated the footage online.

On June 27, the victim filed two separate cases at Muradnagar Police Station—one for rape and the other under the Pornography Control Act.

Police had sought a 10-day remand for Shah Poran but were granted five days. He was arrested by members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from Burichong upazila on July 3 and handed over to Muradnagar police the following day. He was initially sent to Cumilla Central Jail on July 5 before being brought back for the remand hearing.

In connection with the pornography case, four others—Mohammad Ali Suman, Ramzan Ali, Md. Onik, and Md. Arif—were arrested from different parts of the district. After completing a three-day remand, they were produced in court on July 8. Although two of them had reportedly agreed to confess, none provided a statement before the judge. The court subsequently ordered all four to be sent back to jail.

Meanwhile, prime rape suspect Fozor Ali is undergoing treatment at Cumilla Medical College Hospital for multiple injuries, including broken limbs sustained during the beating by locals. According to police, his condition remains critical, and doctors have advised surgery. Authorities expect it may take up to two months before he can be discharged and presented in court.

Muradnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zahidur Rahman confirmed that legal procedures will continue once medical clearance is obtained.
