Murder case filed against Sheikh Hasina in Bogura, 2 arrested
A case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League General Secretary and former Roads and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, and 305 unidentified individuals, alleging their involvement in the death of Salim Hossain (35), an assistant teacher at Muril Light High School in Kahalu Upazila in Bogura, during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Zakir Hasan, superintendent of police of Bogura, confirmed this matter to Views Bangladesh.
Sekender Ali, the father of the deceased Salim Hossain, filed the case at Bogura Sadar police station on Friday (August 16). The case alleged Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader as the instigators of the murder.
According to the case statement, during the anti-discrimination student movement, a group led by seven individuals, including two former Awami League parliamentarians, attacked Salim Hussain in front of IFIC Bank on Station Road in Satmatha, Bogura city. The attackers used cocktails and petrol bombs. Bogura Municipal Councilors Abdul Matin Sarkar and Aminul Islam assaulted him with a ram-da, while Councilor Arifur Rahman struck him with a hockey stick, leaving Salim Hussain severely injured. He was later killed by additional assailants.
SP Zakir Hasan said that two people, Shimul and Abdul Latif, have been arrested in connection with this case.
