Law Adviser and Professor Asif Nazrul has responded to criticism regarding his recent remarks about doctors, clarifying that his complaints target only a specific group within the medical community, not all doctors.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Sunday, August 17, Asif Nazrul explained that during an event the previous day, he shared both positive personal experiences as a patient and some criticisms based on others’ experiences with doctors.

Nazrul emphasized that his criticisms do not apply universally to all doctors. “There are many good doctors, but there are also allegations against some,” he said, noting that some complaints were made as statements, others as questions. He expressed concern that media coverage did not present his full remarks, leading to a misunderstanding that he was accusing all doctors of negligence, excessive testing, or collusion with pharmaceutical companies. “This is not true,” he stressed. “My complaints are unequivocally directed at a particular group of doctors, not the entire profession.”

He also acknowledged that the way some newspapers reported his comments might have caused distress among the majority of dedicated doctors who serve patients with sacrifice, honesty, and professionalism. Nazrul expressed regret for any hurt caused to these medical professionals.

However, he called on authorities to investigate the allegations seriously and take necessary action against any doctors found culpable, even if they represent a small minority.
