Mystery of Shammo's murder uncovered, 8 arrested: Police

The police have uncovered the mystery behind the murder of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a student of Dhaka University (DU) and a leader of the Chhatra Dal. At the same time, eight people have been arrested in connection with the case.

This information was shared on Tuesday (May 27) in a message sent to the media by the Media and Public Relations Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The message stated that the Detective Branch (DB) of the police has solved the mystery of the murder case of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a Dhaka University student, and arrested eight individuals. DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali will brief the media at the DMP Media Center today at 4:45 PM regarding the case.

On the night of May 13, a group of miscreants stabbed Shahriar Alam Shammo near Suhrawardy Udyan, adjacent to Dhaka University. Later, in a bloodied condition, he died around midnight at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Subsequently, on May 14, Shammo’s elder brother Shariful Islam filed a murder case at Shahbagh Police Station.
