Nabaganga river erosion forces villagers to abandon homes in Narail
Several villages in Kalia Upazila, Narail, have been severely affected by the erosion of the Nabaganga River. Over the past 15 days, continuous erosion has forced residents to leave their homes.
Important village structures like thatched houses, roads, graveyards, and mosques are sinking into the river.
Md Sabibur Rahman, Supervising Engineer of the Water Development Board's Jashore Circle, said, "We have already inspected the erosion-affected area on site. As an emergency measure, geobags will be used to prevent further erosion. Permanent dam construction will follow, pending project approval."
