Nahid Iabels BSF as ‘Indian killer force’, rejects its role as Border Guard
National Citizens' Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam strongly condemned the Border Security Force (BSF), refusing to recognize it as a legitimate border guard. Instead, he described the BSF as an “Indian killer force” during a public meeting held in Chuadanga on Wednesday as part of the party’s ‘July March’ programme.
Addressing the gathering, Nahid protested against the ongoing killings at the border, stating, “We will never accept border killings. Over the past 54 years, more than a thousand people have been killed along the border, including at least 200 in Chuadanga alone.”
He accused the BSF of transforming from a border security agency into a deadly force, saying, “The BSF is no longer a border guard but has become a killing squad.”
Nahid further alleged that Indian imperialism has repeatedly violated Bangladesh’s sovereignty and independence. “Bangladesh has been deprived of its rightful share of water, and the country has been economically and culturally suppressed time and again,” he said.
He also criticized the current government, accusing Sheikh Hasina’s administration of enabling enforced disappearances, killings, and political oppression over the last 16 years with the support of the Indian government.
NCP Secretary Akhtar Hossain intensified the criticism by accusing Sheikh Hasina of orchestrating genocide. “Sheikh Hasina has directly ordered and executed genocide. Yet, India’s current Modi government continues to shelter her. India must be held accountable for harboring a criminal against humanity,” he said.
Akhtar warned the Indian government, saying, “History will hold you accountable. The blood of the people cannot be washed away.”
During the meeting, Akhtar outlined the NCP’s vision for the future, emphasizing a new political direction for Bangladesh. “We want to build a modern, just, and humane state free from discrimination, where every individual’s rights and dignity are guaranteed. Thousands are joining our march, showing their support and love, and we are committed to honoring their trust in the struggle to build a new Bangladesh,” he said.
The event was moderated by NCP’s northern region chief organizer Sergis Alam and included speeches from central joint secretary Molla Md. Faruk Ehsan, Dr. Tasnim Zara, southern region chief organizer Hasnat Abdullah, and various district and local leaders from Chuadanga.
