Nahid vows to end border killings at any cost
Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has vowed to stop border killings at any cost. Speaking at the start of the July march at Thakurgaon’s old bus stand roundabout on Friday morning, Nahid condemned the indiscriminate shooting and killing of Bangladeshis at the Thakurgaon border.
“This is not Hasina’s Bangladesh; this is the Bangladesh of the students and the people,” he said. “Bangladeshis are being shot and killed without cause, and illegal pushbacks are occurring repeatedly. We will put an end to these violations.”
Nahid highlighted the growing resistance in Thakurgaon during July and August and emphasized ongoing nationwide efforts to build a new nation. “Through the July manifesto, reform, justice, and a new constitution, we are demanding elections,” he added.
Several central leaders were present during the event, including Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the northern region; Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer of the southern region; senior joint secretary Dr. Tasnim Jara; and chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari.
