Indian prime minister Narendra Modi has extended warm greetings to prime minister Tarique Rahman and the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. ‘On behalf of the people and the Government of India, I extend warm greetings to you and the brotherly people of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on the joyous occasion of the festival of Eid ul Fitr,’ Modi said in a message to Tarique. Over the past one month, Muslims in India as well as across the world have observed the month of Ramadan and spent pious time in fasting and prayer, said Modi. The celebration of Eid reminds them of the timeless values of compassion, brotherhood and togetherness, he said.

ভারতের প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদি পবিত্র ঈদুল ফিতর উপলক্ষে প্রধানমন্ত্রী তারেক রহমান ও বাংলাদেশের জনগণকে শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়েছেন। প্রধানমন্ত্রী তারেক রহমানকে পাঠানো এক বার্তায় মোদি বলেন, ভারত সরকার ও জনগণের পক্ষ থেকে তাকে এবং বাংলাদেশের ভ্রাতৃপ্রতিম জনগণকে আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা জানানো হচ্ছে। বার্তায় তিনি উল্লেখ করেন, গত এক মাস ধরে ভারতসহ বিশ্বের মুসলমানরা রমজান মাসে রোজা ও ইবাদতে সময় কাটিয়েছেন। ঈদের এই উৎসব মানুষকে সহমর্মিতা, ভ্রাতৃত্ববোধ এবং একসঙ্গে থাকার চিরন্তন মূল্যবোধের কথা স্মরণ করিয়ে দেয়। নরেন্দ্র মোদি আরও বলেন, বিশ্বজুড়ে সবার জন্য শান্তি, সম্প্রীতি, সুস্বাস্থ্য ও সুখ কামনা করেন তিনি। পাশাপাশি দুই দেশের মধ্যে বন্ধুত্ব ও পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতার সম্পর্ক আরও জোরদার হবে বলেও আশা প্রকাশ করেন।
