Nasim Hossain reinstated as president of Sylhet city BNP
Nasim Hossain has been reinstated as president of the Sylhet City unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) after nearly two years.
The decision was announced in a letter signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday.
Nasim Hossain was elected president of the Sylhet City BNP through a vote at the party's council on March 10, 2023.
However, his responsibilities were suspended in 2024 after he remained abroad during the anti-government movement.
On August 1, 2024, Miftah Siddiqui, the BNP's Central Assistant Organising Secretary for Sylhet Division, was assigned to oversee the city unit.
Later, on November 4, 2024, Rezaul Hasan Qayes Lodi, a former panel mayor of the Sylhet City Corporation, was appointed acting president in the party's 170-member full committee. Nasim Hossain's name was not included in that committee.
According to Thursday's letter, Nasim Hossain has now been reappointed as president of the Sylhet City BNP.
The party expressed hope that he would play an effective role in further strengthening and organizing the city unit.
Copies of the decision were also sent to BNP Sylhet Divisional Organising Secretary GK Gaus, Assistant Organising Secretary Kalim Uddin Ahmed Milon, Miftah Siddiqui, and Sylhet City BNP General Secretary Md. Imdad Hossain Chowdhury.
