Nasiruddin Patwari declared 'Persona Non Grata' in his hometown
Nasiruddin Patwari, the Chief Coordinator of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has been declared "persona non grata" in Shahrasti following allegations of derogatory remarks against BNP leaders and national figures.
A protest march began from Kaliapara Bazar at 4:30pm on Saturday (September 27), followed by a rally at Shahrasti Gate, with local BNP leaders and residents in attendance.
The protesters condemned Patwari's comments, including those made about President Ziaur Rahman and Tarique Rahman, calling them "regrettable and condemnable."
During the rally, demonstrators burned Patwari’s effigy and vowed to oppose him in his hometown, warning, “There will be no place for Nasir in Shahrasti.”
Speakers accused Patwari of making provocative statements to further his personal political agenda, claiming that he was causing division and hurting the sentiments of BNP supporters. They also cautioned him to refrain from such remarks in the future.
The protest was organised by youth leader Mohiuddin Bahar, with speeches from Masud Kabir, Manik Hossain, Mahin Uddin Zia, Farhad Hossain, and Mahmudul Hasan Kiran, among others.
Patwari hails from Ullashwar Village in Raishri North Union under Shahrasti Upazila.
