Nasiruddin Patwary, 11-party alliance candidate and National Citizen Party (NCP) leader for the Dhaka-8 constituency, faced an unpleasant situation while visiting the Railway Colony High School polling centre.

The incident occurred around 12 pm on Thursday, February 12, when he was speaking to journalists on the centre premises, and an attack was carried out on him, he alleged.

Witnesses said while Nasiruddin Patwary was speaking, activists affiliated with Mirza Abbas raised slogans chanting 'fake, fake'. Tension escalated between both sides at one stage, leading to chasing and counter-chasing. Allegations of attack were made during this time.

The army immediately intervened to bring the situation under control. Law enforcement agencies safely evacuated Nasiruddin Patwary, who had become caught up in the disorder.

In a Facebook post following the incident, Nasiruddin Patwary alleged, "Vote robbery is being carried out through Mirza Abbas's terrorist force. After we entered the centre, BNP activists attacked us even in the presence of the administration."

He condemned the incident and demanded an immediate fair investigation and ensuring the safety of voters.

No immediate comment was available from Mirza Abbas or his side regarding the allegations.
