National poet Kazi Nazrul's birth anniversary marked with cultural programme
The 126th birth anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was observed on Friday with a program titled “Kandari Hushiyar” featuring songs, poetry recitations, and discussions.
The event, organized by the History and Heritage Council, took place in a Dhanmondi auditorium. Pranay Verma, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, was the chief guest, accompanied by his wife Manu Verma as the special guest.
Renowned Nazrul Sangeet artists performed the poet’s timeless awakening songs, while eminent reciters presented his poetry.
In his speech, High Commissioner Verma described Nazrul as a unifying bridge between the peoples of Bangladesh and India. He added, “Nazrul, the poet of equality and humanity, has left an enduring legacy and inspiration for future generations through his timeless works and life of struggle.”
