National Security Adviser (NSA) Khalilur   Rahman is scheduled to visit New Delhi on 19 November to attend the Colombo Security Conclave meeting of NSAs, scheduled for 20 November.

He is travelling at the invitation of Indian NSA Ajit Doval for a two-day trip, according to government and diplomatic sources in Dhaka.

Although no official announcement has been made yet, both Bangladeshi and Indian sources confirmed the visit. It is still uncertain whether a bilateral meeting between the two NSAs will take place, though Indian officials indicated the possibility of a brief discussion in view of Bangladesh’s current political situation and the need for direct communication between policymakers.

This will be the second India visit by an adviser of the interim government. Earlier in February, Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan visited Delhi to attend India Energy Week.

Bangladesh–India diplomatic engagements have recently included the Touhid Hossain–S. Jaishankar meeting in New York, foreign secretary-level talks in Dhaka, and a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus during the BIMSTEC Summit, though India has yet to respond to several pending proposals.

The Colombo Security Conclave—comprising India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius and Bangladesh, with Seychelles as observer—is a multilateral security platform focusing on maritime security, counterterrorism, human trafficking, cyber security and disaster response.

Bangladesh became a full member in 2024, when the secretariat was also formally established in Colombo.
