Nationwide bank holiday Tuesday
Banks across the country will be closed for public transactions on Tuesday, July 1, due to the half-yearly bank holiday. On this day, banks finalize their mid-year accounts, and all customer services — including deposits, withdrawals, cheque clearances, and mobile banking — will be unavailable.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) will also suspend trading, as most stock transactions rely on banking channels.
Although customer services will be paused, the head offices and key branches of Bangladesh Bank and other banks will remain open on a limited scale for internal administrative and accounting work.
Every year, banks observe July 1 to prepare their semi-annual financial reports. A similar holiday is also observed on December 31 for annual account closing.
