Nationwide special measles vaccination campaign to begin by month-end: Health Minister
A nationwide special measles vaccination campaign will begin by the end of September, Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain said.
He said the government had secured sufficient vaccine supplies and that measles vaccination had already been carried out in all districts except Rangamati and Bandarban.
The minister made the remarks while speaking to reporters after inspecting Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in this morning on Friday (September 4).
Sakhawat said the government had brought changes to the health sector since taking office and claimed that the quality of healthcare had improved at hospitals across the country over the past six months.
He said he had visited more than 25 hospitals since assuming responsibility and found doctors fully present during his inspections. Patients had also reported improvements in treatment, hospital conditions and food quality, he said.
Asked about reports of doctors arriving late at Osmani Medical College Hospital, the minister said punctuality among doctors would be ensured within seven working days and that necessary instructions had already been issued.
He also assured that government hospitals in Sylhet that are under construction or have already received approval would be opened soon.
