‘Nat'l Prayer Breakfast':  Fakhrul, Khasru to leave for US today

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is set to leave Dhaka for the United States this evening to attend the "National Prayer Breakfast".

He will be accompanied by Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, a member of the BNP chairperson's foreign affairs advisory committee and the party's national standing committee, according to the party sources.

The two leaders are scheduled to depart from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 6:30pm, confirmed Sayrul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP Media Cell.

They will travel to the US via London, he said.


The "National Prayer Breakfast", an annual event organised by the National Prayer Breakfast Foundation, will take place in Washington, DC, on February 5 and 6.

This year, three BNP leaders -- acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, Fakhrul and Khasru -- were invited to the event.

However, according to the party sources, Tarique will not be attending the programme. Instead, his daughter, Barrister Zaima Rahman, will represent him.

The "National Prayer Breakfast" is a major international event that brings together political, religious, and social leaders from around the world to promote dialogue and unity.

Party insiders said that the visit is part of the BNP's efforts to strengthen international ties.
