Natore DC withdrawn, Lalpur UNO transferred after attack on UNO offices
Following the filing of cases over attacks, vandalism and the humiliation of government officials at the offices of the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO) of Lalpur and Bagatipara, Natore Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asma Shaheen has been withdrawn and Lalpur UNO Md Barkat Ullah has been transferred.
The transfer orders were issued through two separate gazette notifications by the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday.
In one order signed by Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Barman Hossain, Natore Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Asma Shaheen has been withdrawn and placed under the Ministry of Public Administration for subsequent posting. In another order signed by Rajshahi Divisional Senior Assistant Commissioner Preetilata Barman, Lalpur UNO Md Barkat Ullah has been transferred to the office of the Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner.
Earlier, on August 12, attacks, vandalism and the humiliation of government officials took place at the Lalpur and Bagatipara UNO offices following discontent over the results of the recruitment of data collectors and supervisors for the family card programme.
On Monday, Administrative Officer of the Lalpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer’s office Md Abu Masud Rana and Administrative Officer of the Bagatipara Upazila Nirbahi Officer’s office Md Shukur Ali filed two separate cases as complainants at their respective police stations. The two cases named 25 leaders and activists of the ruling party. In addition, another 140 to 200 unidentified persons were made accused.
