NBR cancels Eid holiday, issues new directive
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has directed customs houses to keep import-export operations running on a limited scale during the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday. However, customs stations will remain closed only on Eid day.
The information was provided in a directive signed by NBR Second Secretary (Customs Policy) Rezaul Karim on Monday.
It stated that to maintain uninterrupted import-export trade of the country, necessary measures have been requested to keep import-export related activities running on a limited scale during the weekly holidays and Eid holidays from March 17 to 23 (excluding Eid day).
The notification has been sent to the commissioners of Dhaka, Chattogram, Benapole, ICD, Kamalapur, Mongla and Pangaan customs houses. Instructions have also been sent to the commissioners of Excise and VAT Commissionerates in Dhaka (North), Dhaka (West), Dhaka (East), Dhaka (South), Chattogram, Rajshahi, Jashore, Khulna, Sylhet, Rangpur and Cumilla.
