The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has collected Tk 3,27,782 crore in revenue during the first 11 months (July–May) of the current fiscal year 2024–25.

This represents 83.10% of the revised annual target of Tk 3,94,460 crore.

The information was confirmed by NBR Public Relations Officer Md Al-Amin Sheikh on Thursday (June 19), following a review meeting held to assess the revenue collection performance of the Customs and VAT divisions up to May.

NBR Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan presided over the meeting, which included members of the Customs and VAT Division, commissioners, directors general, and other senior officials from both Dhaka and regional offices, with many joining virtually.

NBR Chairman emphasized the importance of maximizing revenue collection in the remaining period of the fiscal year. He urged all officials to adopt a target-based approach and to intensify efforts to recover arrears.

“Higher revenue collection contributes to reducing the country’s debt burden,” he noted, stressing the need to enhance intelligence and enforcement efforts to curb tax evasion and improve efficiency.

According to the NBR, the revenue collection in the July–May period has seen a 6% growth compared to the same period last fiscal year. The board aims to close the fiscal year with further gains in revenue mobilization through intensified efforts across all tax segments.
