NBR raids Benazir's Savanna resort
The National Board of Revenue's (NBR) Intelligence Division (CIC) has raided former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed's Savanna resort in Gopalganj.
A 15-member team of CIC began the raid at the resort in Shahpur Union of Gopalganj on Tuesday morning.
Officials involved in the raid said that the NBR's Intelligence Division is conducting the raid to find out the reality of Benazir's asset calculations. They entered the resort in the afternoon and inspected the 612-acre resort.
The Savanna resort is now under the district administration. Although it is open to visitors, there is no significant presence here.
Benazir Ahmed was the IGP from April 15, 2020 to September 30, 2022. Earlier, she also served as the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner and Director General of RAB. She is currently abroad.
Before the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government in the student uprising, reports were published in the media about various allegations against her. Most recently, in December, the ACC filed four cases against Benazir Ahmed, her wife, and two daughters.
