NBR to construct 3 iconic buildings in Chattogram

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has announced plans to construct three iconic buildings in the port city, including a new Customs House, a Customs Academy, and a tax office.

Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, Chairman of the NBR, revealed the development during a press briefing at the Chattogram Customs House on Friday, July 25.

“We have finalized the design for the new Customs House, which will be an architecturally stunning structure,” Khan said. “We will also build a Customs Academy and a tax building, with the latter planned for the Agrabad area.”

Addressing logistics, Khan noted that the existing Customs House building will be demolished to make way for the new facility. “To accommodate Customs operations during construction, we have identified potential temporary locations, including the World Trade Center area in Agrabad, where most local businessmen are based,” he explained. “This arrangement will continue until the construction is complete and is expected to benefit all stakeholders.”

The initiative is part of NBR’s broader effort to modernize its infrastructure and enhance service efficiency in the region.
