NCP and Jamaat trying to infiltrate various centers: Mirza Abbas
BNP candidate Mirza Abbas has claimed that Jamaat and NCP workers are trying to infiltrate various polling centers in Dhaka-8 constituency.
Stating the fear of rigging in the vote, he alleged that the opposition workers are preparing to capture the centers.
He made this allegation at a press conference held at his residence in Shahjahanpur in the capital on Wednesday (February 11) night.
Mirza Abbas said that NCP and Jamaat-Shibir workers are trying to enter various centers. He also alleged that at least 200 to 300 people are armed in houses, messes and madrasas in Arambagh and the surrounding areas. He fears that they may try to capture various centers in the morning.
He claimed that attempts have been made to infiltrate at least seven centers, including Siddheshwari Girls' School. He said that it was prevented with the help of BNP workers and locals. He alleged that some people were arrested and taken to Ramna Police Station but were later released.
The BNP candidate also expressed concern that the opposition was trying to 'engineer' and rig the vote. He said, 'If this attempt to capture the center continues, the consequences will not be good.'
However, he expressed hope that voters would spontaneously participate in this election, which was achieved through a long-standing movement, and resist all kinds of conspiracies.
