NCP announces candidates for 125 constituencies
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced its preliminary list of candidates for the upcoming national parliamentary elections, fielding nominees in 125 constituencies.
Akhtar Hossain, general secretary of the party, made the announcement at a press conference held at 11:00am at the party’s temporary office in the capital's Banglamotor on Wednesday (December 10).
Party convenor Nahid Islam will contest from Dhaka-11 (Badda, Bhatara, Rampura), while Akhtar Hossain will run from Rangpur-4.
NCP Chief Coordinator and head of the Election Committee, Nasiruddin Patwari, said the party is aiming for a “ballot revolution.” He urged candidates to campaign for the party symbol, the 'Shapla Koli', and promote a “Yes” vote in the referendum.
Senior Joint Secretary and Election Committee Secretary Tasnim Zara said more than 1,500 candidates collected nomination forms from the party. She added that NCP’s candidate list will feature some surprises.
NCP Chief Organizer (South Region) Hasnat Abdullah and Joint Secretary Mushfiq Us Salehin were also present at the press conference.
