The National Citizens Party (NCP) has alleged that Chief Adviser Dr Yunus considered resigning due to pressure from the BNP’s movement.

In an interview with a private TV channel on Friday (May 23), NCP leaders said the demands for the resignation of two student advisers are part of a deliberate BNP strategy, conflicting with the spirit of the ongoing popular uprising.

NCP leader Sarjis Alam accused the BNP of attempting to forcefully gain power, stating, “The chief adviser cannot accept being used or manipulated for such tactics.” He added that BNP’s efforts to pressure the government through these demands are harmful and counterproductive.

Another NCP leader, Sarwar Tushar, said the calls for the resignation of advisers Asif Mahmud and Mahfuz Alam are politically motivated. “There is no truth to the resignation demands of these student advisors, who represent the uprising. If they resign, the government would essentially turn into a caretaker government,” he warned.

Despite the tensions, the NCP leaders emphasized the importance of dialogue among political parties to reduce divisions and restore unity. They urged all parties to put national interests above partisan politics and called for talks with the chief advisor regarding election-related demands.
