NCP condemns CA's statement regarding banning Awami League
The National Citizens Party (NCP) has condemned the statement of the chief adviser that the government has no plan to ban the Awami League. NCP convener Md. Nahid Islam said this at an emergency press conference at 8 pm on Friday. The press conference was held at Rupayan Tower in Bangla Motor in the capital.
In a written statement at the press conference, Nahid Islam said, 'Such statements from a responsible position of the state are undesirable before effective progress is visible in the trial of the July murders including the Pilkhana massacre, Shapla mmassacre, murders during the anti-aggression movement, disappearances-crossfire, vote robbery and other crimes committed by the Awami League.'
The written statement said that even though seven months have passed since the mass uprising, there has been no visible progress in the trial of the murderers of the Awami League, including the mass murderer Sheikh Hasina. The recent report of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights clearly states that the crimes committed in Bangladesh in July constitute international crimes. Despite such a clear international statement on the crimes against humanity committed by the Awami League, the slow pace of the judicial process is highly condemnable. The National Citizens Party (NCP) immediately wants to see visible progress in the trial of the disappearances and extrajudicial killings committed by the previous fascist regime, including the July genocide.
In a written statement, Nahid Islam mentioned, ‘Recently, the chief advisor of the interim government commented that the government has no plans to ban the Awami League. We condemn his statement.’
The written statement mentioned that any kind of activity in favor of remaining active as an Awami League party without trial, acceptance of responsibility, repentance, and atonement for the crimes committed is tantamount to rehabilitating fascists. It further said that the NCP wants assurance of trial of other genocides and crimes against humanity committed by the previous fascist regime, including the July genocide. The Awami League’s registration should be cancelled during the trial and the NCP is committed to resisting any attempt by this mafia group to return to politics.
The NCP convener said in a written statement, ‘All parties concerned should remember that the Awami League is not a democratic and political party; rather, it is a fascist party. The defeat of the Awami League in the elections did not happen through votes. As a party, the Awami League has committed genocide in Bangladesh through organizational decisions. As a result, the Awami fascist regime has been overthrown from Bangladesh through an unprecedented student-public uprising in the history of Bangladesh. As a result, the Awami League is currently outside the democratic framework.
