After the July march rally in Gopalganj, central leaders and activists of the National Citizens' Party (NCP) came under attack when their motorcade was blocked on the road. In response, the Jubo Shakti and Anti-Discrimination Student Movement had announced a countrywide “blockade” program. However, now that the central leaders have left Gopalganj with the support of the army, the party has instructed the program to be called off.

On Wednesday evening, the instructions were given by the party’s Convenor Nahid Islam and Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari.

Referring to Nahid Islam, NCP’s Chief Organizer of the Northern Region, Sarjis Alam, wrote in a verified Facebook post:
“Lift the blockade. Take position on one side of the road. The struggle will continue.”

In his own Facebook post, Nasiruddin Patwari wrote: “End the blockade. Take position on the road.”
